Hi, I’m Greg Drummond, painter and decorator based in Somerton, Somerset.

I love hearing clients describe the space they are hoping to create when they redecorate. How they want the space to feel and what images it will conjure up for them when it’s complete.

Every single decorating project begins with this vision. This imagined idea of, for example, of how a certain blue and white will create the effect of a Greek villa a client once stayed in, or how a deep teal on a feature wall will combine with an art deco lamp to create a dramatic cinematic effect. It never ceases to amaze me how simply painting walls in a room can fire the imagination and turn tired spaces into rich and deeply felt places to be.

For this reason I find that one of the most important things I can do before I even pick up my sandpaper or brush is to listen to that vision very carefully and then make sure we get the colours and paint finishes right before we begin. Secondly, it’s important to involve the client at every step of the process to make sure that vision is coming to life, just as they saw it in their minds eye.

I have been painting interiors and exteriors on houses and commercial buildings around the Langport and Somerton area for five years. From new builds, dance studios, 200 year old cottages, manor houses and cafés. I have worked with many paints and finishes from trade emulsions to high end paints such as Farrow and Ball and Mylands. Originally from New Zealand, I have lived in the UK for twenty years.
